music Review

I reviewed Baba O'Riley by the Who. It was written by Pete Townshend. He originally wrote it for his Lifehouse project. This was a rock opera to be a follow-up to their 1969 opera, Tommy. Insteada it was realeased with the 1971 album Whos Next. It was released as a single in many European countries but in the United States only on the album. The drummer Keith Moon had the idea of inserting a violin to the song. A great addition i believe. When the song is performed live the lead singer Roger Daltrey plays the violin part on a harmonica.
I chose this song because the lyrics really speak to me. It is about having to fight for what you want and not having everything just handed to you. It implies that you have to fight to survive. When I first heard the song, I didnt even pay attention to the words. I was so engaged in the intro. That intro is ridiculous. It really is just amazing. But when I actually listened to the words was when I really just fell in love with the song. Its meaning is amazing.

  1. This was supposed to be a longer, 250-word essay.

In addition to including a line or two of the song, you might want to include some background information on the songwriter (Pete Townshend), the band and the story behind this song. (FYI, Wikipedia has a good entry on this song.)

16/25 - how about giving this another shot?
